Lo Sau, Coxswain of the S.L. "Hoi Ning“ owned by
Che Woo, Hongkong, reported at 11.45 p.m. 2nd. instant that about 1 p.m. 30th. ultimo whilst on a voyage from Hongkong to Ping Hoi and on arrival at Ping Hoi Kok, Chinese waters, about 20 robbers
who were amongst the passengers, produced revolvers, drove the
crew and passengers into the hold, took charge of the launch and
took her to Liu Shau. The robbers then ransacked the launch and
stole from the crew and passengers $19,750 in money and clothing total value $19,950. The robbers then partly disabled the engine

and left in sampans in an unknown direction. Shortly after the
roboers left, the crew out of the hold and sailed to Shan Mei, Hoi
Fung and Ping Hoi where they reported the piracy. It is not known where the robbers boarded the launch. No persons were killed or injured.

Young Cheung, Master of Trading junk T 1088H reports that on the 8th. instant, when on a voyage from San Cheung, West River, to Hongkong in tow of the stea-launch Hung Wing, and when near Muk Chow about 60 men from both sides of the river fired at
the junk. Six men came off in a rowing boat, 4 of which boarded the launch and took charge. They steamed out to sea and after a while cast off the two ropes and returned to Mak Chow. While they were away 7 of the crew of the junk cleared off with three rifles and some ammunition.
The launch returned shortly afterwards with seven boats in tow astern. Coming alongside the junk they boarded us and telling us not to move, commenced looting the junk taking away about $250, some clothing, 2 cannons, 3 rifles, ammunition, and
gunpowder, putting everything in the seven boats, rowed ashore. The
